Cade is 2 1/2 and its time to kick the binky! After reading up online on "how to do it effectively" and asking friends "what did YOU do?" - we came up with a few options of our own. We first tried snipping the end of the binky so it wouldn't work anymore. I had a sneaking suspicion this wouldn't work, only because Cade reasons so well! As soon as he popped the binky in his mouth - he had a puzzled look on his face and tried it again. He pulled it out of his mouth and said, "Mommy, its broken. I need a new one." Just as I had suspected.
On to the better plan - bribery. We kept talking to Cade daily about how binkies are for babies, and if he gave his binkies away to another baby, he could pick out any toy he wanted. When asked what toy he might want, he said he wanted a "BIG TRICERATOPS!" So several days later, after convincing him that he would indeed get a Big Triceratops if he sent his binkies away, he decided to do it! We gathered up all of his binkies and put them in a box - ready to mail them to his cousin, Baby Nate in Louisiana. And just as Mommy and Daddy had promised...the biggest triceratops that could be found made its way into our lives. :)
