Well, just when you think you have it all under control, God sometimes decides to make an appearance to remind us that He is in control - and for that - we must be grateful. This Thanksgiving, we were supposed to be celebrating the holiday with family in Louisiana. Boarding passes printed, rental car confirmed and bags packed --- our holiday took a crazy turn when Cade's 2-day battle with an unexplained fever spiked to 105 at 1:00am on Thanksgiving morning. After consulting with a triage nurse on call, we decided to take him to the E.R. once he woke up from a restful sleep. Vanderbilt Children's Hospital is not where we wanted to spend our Turkey day, but we are ever so thankful that we never set foot on our plane. Turns out, Cade has an ear infection - not something we would have wanted to endure 10,000 ft in the air.
No matter how much we wanted to be in Louisiana this holiday, God had other plans. Instead of eating a Cajun Fried Turkey and visiting with loved ones all weekend - we've accepted a quiet day in our PJs with a Cracker Barrel dinner-to-go. We are thankful today for God's provision, protection and healing. It will definitely be a Thanksgiving to remember.
